Special Event- Brave Wings Fashion Show

Sol Sisters were invited to the inaugural Brave Wings Fashion Show to benefit the Sojourner Center. The Sojourner Center is actually on of the nation’s oldest shelters helping women in need from domestic violence. We were glad to learn that the Sojourner Center helps every year over 3000 women. Some of the services provided to these women and children encompass shelter, on-site care, legal advocacy, basic health care, and education for women and children where they learn how to be empowered and break away from a life of violence.

We were thankful to Mabel Cortez from Mabella Chic for personally inviting The Sol Sisters to cover this event. With a vision in mind and the desire to contribute back to their community Mabel of Mabella Chick and Jenesis Laforcade of Woman's Touch Apparel got to work on bringing to life last nights event and with a great response from like minded individuals it's obvious these two fabulous women will do great things! The designers (Woman’s Touch Apparel, Cher Thomas, Mabella Chic, Dawn Sunflower, Trifilio, and Orlando Dugi), the vendors (Friday I am Sassy, Stella and Dot, Lana May,  DAMAS, Madelyn Nault Accessories, MUZ Be Inspired and THREADS), the venue where the event was held (The Venue Scottsdale), and the music (by DJ Digital Phunk) were on point. The combination of all of these players made the event a success and we cannot wait to see what they will bring us next year.

Mabel and Jenesis, Sol Sisters want to thank you for bringing fashion to help a great cause, make an event such a success, and introduce designers that we feel are leaving a footprint in the fashion world starting here within our community. Some of our favorite designers were Woman's Touch Apparel, Mabella Chic, Trifilio, and Orlando Dugi. Orlando Dugi brings sophistication, edge, and colorful designs to the runway. Woman's Touch Apparel definitely creates a piece of clothing that empowers women and makes them feel sexy and in control with a very street style vibe, Trifilio brings a very feminine contemporary style to the runway, and Mabella Chic brings comfort, color and trend in such a effortless way.

Please check Brave Wings Fashion Show for more information about the event, the Sojourner Center, designers, vendors and sponsors of the night.

Special Event- The Bling Ring

Hi dears! Inez and I were invited to a special advance screening for the movie “The Bling Ring”, starring Emma Watson, Leslie Mann, Claire Julien, Israel Broussard, Taissa Farmiga, and Katie Chang. Written and directed by Sofia Coppola. The movie opens nationwide on 6/21/2013. The movie is based off an article in Vanity Fair by Nancy Jo Sales titled” The suspects wore Louboutins” published in 2010 and real life events of robberies committed by a group of teen between 2008-2009.
We love the way Sofia Coppola tells the story of these young people trying to live the fabulous life of the rich and famous “one heist at a time”. The movie’s message touches on the fact that today’s culture is so enamored with the life of the rich and famous that they are even willing to commit crimes to be a part of that circle. Unfortunately most of their irrational behavior is done under very high doses of illegal substances. The whole movie entails following the fame-obsessed LA teenagers while they go to clubs, rob famous people’s homes, indulge in taking drugs, going “shopping”, and finally getting caught. Some of the real life victims included: Paris Hilton, Audrina Patridge, Orlando Bloom, Lindsay Lohan, and Megan Fox.
Music also plays a huge part in the movie. The soundtrack includes modern music genres like Hip Hop, Rap, Krautrock, and Electronic. I personally love this kind of music. Inez has a different opinion but agrees that music played a huge role in telling these kids story. Sol Sisters would recommend you watch this movie as it touches on today’s culture and shines on the pitfalls we deal with as a society, the teenage state of mind, and the Hollywood culture that seems to be at the center of it all sometimes (they all seem to be the same in this instance if you ask us).
Let us know if you go and watch it and what you think of the movie?
